Gout is a type of arthritis. Symptoms of this condition usually consist of joint inflammation, burning pain, and stiffness. Unless the gout is treated, the “attacks” and the accompanying symptoms can keep recurring, and unfortunately over time may lead to issues with tendons, joints, and tissues.

The ultimate cause of gout is an excessive concentration of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid can form crystals in the joints over time, thus irritate the joint causing the symptoms of gout.

Those who are more at risk of developing this condition are those who drink alcohol or soft drinks excessively, consume too much fish and and red meat possessing certain chemicals, known as purines and those who eat too much shellfish.
